Guides’ Sailing Adventure

by | Sep 24, 2017

57th Bath (Bathampton) Guides had a great day sailing with the Somerspirit team to kick start their new Guiding term with an adventure. The leaders were proud to be told by the officer on duty that they have a good bunch of girls that happily helped another sailor when asked. All the girls earned their water safety badge and want to go again in the spring!

Somerspirit is Girlguiding Somerset’s Sailing Dinghy: a 15 foot glass reinforced plastic hulled boat with the capacity to hold four or five people.

Trained volunteers provide girls (aged 7 upwards) with the opportunity to try sailing at Sutton Bingham Sailing Club near Yeovil.

Prices (for the Sailing Session, not per girl) are:

  • £60 for a full day (10am-4pm) Saturday or Sunday.
  • £35 for a half day (10am-1pm or 1pm-4pm) Saturday or Sunday.

This is a great activity for those looking to do their Wheels, Water, Walk County Challenge Badge. Bathampton Guides certainly give it their seal of approval!
