World Thinking Day 2018
Girls from across Bath celebrated World Thinking Day on Thursday 22nd February with a range of international themed activities:
12th Bath Brownies learnt about how big Girlguiding is around the world. They talked about the world centres of Pax Lodge, Our Chalet, Our Cabana and Sangam, and made friendship badges from each country. They lit candles to represent people that are outwardly different, but actually inside are all the same and share the same values, hopes and dreams.
57th Bath (Bathampton) Guides celebrated World Thinking Day by having a Holi festival evening (the festival of colour). We were joined by seven Brownies who are thinking of joining Guides in the near future. The girls painted t-shirts in bright colours, had a mini bonfire (with marshmallows of course) to ward off any evil spirits and then tried on a sari from Sangam.
1st Bath (St Luke’s) Rainbows learnt about Rainbows from around the world and looked at the different uniforms they wear in other countries. The Rainbows also played games and did activities from South Africa and Canada.
41st Bath Brownies made ‘good turn hands’ to help them think about the impact of Girlguiding around the world and the impact they can have on their local communities.
1st Bath (St Luke’s) Brownies used activities from the WAGGGS World Thinking Day activity pack, and acted out the story of the animals from the Chinese zodiac story to celebrate Chinese New Year and Girlguiding in Hong Kong.
10th Bath (Argyle) Brownies completed the WAGGGS Thinking Day Badge. The theme this year was IMPACT, so the girls made ripples with pebbles and thought about how an act of kindness can cause a ripple effect. Each Six had a quarter of a ripple effect collage to colour.
