Girls from across Bath came together to watch Disney’s new live action film, Beauty and the Beast. We sold out two screens on Saturday 18th March and a further screen on Sunday 19th March, joining 42,000 members of Girlguiding nationwide who took part in the film trip.
Girls from 12th Bath Brownies were particularly excited, as they welcomed their newest member, who made her Brownie Promise in the cinema:
Lucy from 1st Bath (St Luke’s) Brownies wrote a review of the trip for her Writers Badge:
“On the 18th March 2017 1st Bath Brownies enjoyed an enticing trip to the Odeon to watch the one and only: Beauty and the Beast. This new film is a live action version of the animated classic. It was a very enjoyable time for the Brownies to experience because it was a screening just for them. I have heard that many of the Brownies found it very interesting and thought that it was very similar to the animated film also created by Disney. A quote from a Brownie is: “this film was very entertaining and I enjoyed it because there was always a sense of danger; however, at the end it did get a little bit soppy because everyone found their loved ones who they thought they had lost forever.” Another said “I thought it was packed with lots of different emotions and that it was very interesting and lots of people/creatures went back on their feelings about one another.”
It stars famous names including: Emma Watson as Belle, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, and Emma Thompson as Mrs Potts. This edition was thought to be worse than the original by many rating stores; however, I don’t think the Brownies agree. Their thoughts earlier told us that they quite enjoyed it. It was obvious from the buzz as they came out of the cinema that they all had a fantastic time.
The girls did indeed have a fantastic time – as did their leaders, who were singing along with the big musical numbers. Thank you to everyone at the Odeon in Bath for looking after us and helping us to have such a great time together!
