Get ready for ICE

9th Bath Guides have had 2 girls selected for the ICE (International Community Experience) 2024 trip to Jersey! The girls took part in a selection weekend in Sept 2023 and will be heading off to Jersey for 4 days in the Easter break with Guides from all across the region. The Guides had a lot of fun on the selection weekend and are excited about the trip!

Girlguiding South West England run ICE for younger girls, aged 11-13, for smaller scale trips closer to home. They have visited destinations such as France, Belgium, etc. They usually hold 2 selection weekends each year in September/October time and offer half the girls a space on the international trip. This is a really good way for the girls to begin to experience international adventures. ICE is designed to introduce Guides to community action and international experiences. They explore what a community is and how they can help make a difference, no matter how small.

The opportunity will open again in late March/early April and places for the selection weekend go extremely quickly. If you have Guides who are interested they will need to sign up the day it opens. There is a cost associated with going on the trip but there are numerous grants that can be applied for through Girlguiding so that the cost of an experience is not a barrier to taking part.

As a Division we’re pleased to have supported the two girls from 9th Guides with a grant.
