Membership Growth and Retention Conference

This year’s Membership Growth and Retention Conference is open to all volunteers levels and will be held virtually.

Date: Saturday 27th November 2021
Venue: Online
Time: 9.45am – 4pm

We will join together at the beginning using Zoom and then you will have the chance to attend a number of workshops during the day before we all come back together for some fun at the end.

The day is planned with plenty of breaks in between sessions and while we would encourage you to join in for the whole day, we appreciate that everyone’s circumstances are different. If you feel that you are only able to join in part of the day, then please let us know when you book.

During the day you will have the chance to choose three workshops to attend:

Recruitment Packs & Resources

Discover ways to use recruitment packs and other ideas to help promote Girlguiding at events. Learn what resources are already available from region and national teams to help support your recruitment and suggestions for other things that may be helpful and where you can source items such as banners etc

Flexible Roles

We will look how you can encourage flexible roles and look at ways to offer volunteers who don’t want to do leadership, alternative roles in guiding to help keep them engaged and not lose their experience and knowledge. Also, an opportunity to explore ways to advertise these types of roles to people outside of guiding.

Retention of Volunteers

Ideas to help with retention, recognition and appreciation of volunteers. Discover and share ideas for specific events and activities aimed at adults, allowing opportunities for our volunteers to encourage networking, skill-sharing and getting to know each other – and generally have fun!

Myth Busting

‘Exploding the myths about Girlguiding’ – how can we debunk the stereotypical image and ideas, both within Girlguiding and externally to help promote ourselves positively?

Engagement & Recruitment of Young Leaders & Volunteers

This session will focus specifically on keeping our young leaders engaged and how we can support them in their roles. We will also look at how volunteering can be beneficial for opportunities such as DofE and discuss tips and advice for student recruitment.

Promoting Girlguiding

A session to explore different ideas and ways to promote and speak about Girlguiding to different audiences.

Creating Promotion & Recruitment Materials

Do you want to create your promotional and recruitment materials, but don’t know where start? This session will take you through the basics of creating your own material, using the Girlguiding online print centre and other useful resources to help. We will also cover the ‘dos and don’ts’ of branding guidelines and photo permissions.

Parent and Community Recruitment

In this session, we will look at how you can reach out to parents and your local community to help with volunteering roles.

Social Media

Do you know your Instagram from your Facebook? This session will take you through using social media as a tool to help you recruit and look at what makes for a successful social media post.

Bookings close on Sunday 31st October.
