New policy requirements

Girlguiding have launched a new finance policy. This talks about finances at all levels. The policy provides you with clear and easy instructions. There are a few key points that you need to be aware of:

  • There must be at least three signatories on bank accounts of which any two can sign. We know that it’s difficult at this time so have given you until 31 March 2021 to sort this out.
  • The end of year review must be sent to the local commissioner no more than three months after the end of the financial year.
  • Financial information should be shared with the whole unit leadership team.

If you have not sent your 2019 accounts to your District Commissioner, please do so straight away. 

Support with preparing unit accounts

We are looking at ways to support units with financial record keeping and preparing their annual accounts at Division level.

If you find preparing unit accounts stressful and would like to take part in our pilot scheme for Division support, please contact Kirsty at divisioncommissioner@girlguidingbath.org.uk.

 

Fundraising opportunities 

We know that there are units that have not received subs since lockdown began, and may be worried about dwindling funds.

There a couple of easy ways to boost your unit funds:

 

Gift Aid

If you have not applied for Gift Aid, you can claim for the last three years. This can be a substantial lump sum, which can be very handy at the moment!

If you need help setting up Gift Aid, please contact your District Commissioner.

 

Easyfundraising

Easyfundraising allows you to earn a percentage on online purchases made by your supporters. You can encourage the girls’ parents, family and friends to use the Easyfundraising website when they make a purchase online.

COVID19 financial support

Bath Division Executive are meeting at the beginning of November to discuss what support we can offer any units that may struggle to pay the annual subscription payment next year.

It would be helpful to know how many units are in this position.  Please contact your District Commissioner if you think your unit will not have sufficient funds to pay the annual subscription.

We will be able to confirm the final annual subscription amount per member after our meeting in early November.

 

If you have any questions or concerns about your unit finances, please contact your District Commissioner. We don’t want anyone to worry when help is available!
