Girls from across Bath took part in the Somerset North Great Canal Adventure this summer.
In an epic three week adventure masterminded by Ali Cannon from Keynsham, over 200 girls from across Somerset North County got to experience life on a narrowboat this summer. The Falcon Adam, accompanied for part of the route by the Lady Hilda completed the full length of the Kennet and Avon Canal twice over – travelling from Aldermaston to Hanham, then all the way to Reading, before returning back to Aldermaston in triumph on 31st August. During the voyage, groups of girls from across the county joined Ali and her fellow skippers for different stages of the journey
16th Bath (Walcot) Rainbows, 31st Bath Rainbows and 2nd Bath Trefoil Guild joined in for day trips, when they enjoyed having a go at the locks, blowing bubbles and learning about life on board.
1st Bath (St Luke’s) Brownies and 9th Bath (Beechen Cliff) Brownies each joined the Falcon Adam for overnight stays, finding out what it is like to live together on a narrowboat.
The girls all had a fantastic time on board, thanks to Ali and her team. It was a great adventure for all and has inspired several units to do more narrow boating together in the future!
