Big beach clean

The Severn Estuary Partnership are running their annual Severn Estuary Big Beach Clean around the Severn Estuary (and surrounding catchments) from the 15th to the 24th September, aligning with the Marine Conservation Society Great British Beach Clean event. The event aims to encourage groups, individuals and organisations to set up their own litter picking events and record their event on our event map so that local volunteers can join in (if appropriate). We also highlight messaging around the importance of litter picking in a responsible way to minimise disturbance to the Severn Estuary features; that actions we take in the Severn Estuary catchment will ultimately impact on the estuary as a whole, ie. removing litter in the catchment will reduce the flow of litter into the estuary and our ocean; and encouraging groups to record their litter with the Marine Conservation Society (beachwatch or source to sea litter quest) to that we can track changes in litter around the Severn Estuary over time.https://severnestuarypartnership.org.uk/big-beach-clean-2023/

If you would like to join a clean, register your litter picking group for the event, or would like more information, get in touch via email at severn@cardiff.ac.uk, or via social media channels @SevernEstuary.
