Wansdyke Division would like to invite Bath units to join in a very exciting Narrowboating adventure in August 2018. They are travelling both ways along the length of the Kennet and Avon canal, much of it in two boats (which will add to the fun!), from 10th – 31st August, with teams of girls and leaders forming the crew for a few days each.
The trip will be run by Girlguiding qualified skippers who also have Going Away with licences, so no narrowboating experience or residential licence is required. Between them, the boats can sleep two adults and 14 girls in addition to the skippers. On the section where only one boat is running (at the Reading end), the boat sleeps two adults and 8 girls in addition to the skippers. Guiders are welcome to book a longer section and swap girls half way if more want to take part: all parts of the canal are easily reached by car or train.
The cost for girls is only £25 for the first night and £22 for subsequent nights which is substantially less that it would be if a unit booked a boat for themselves for a weekend, so this is a great opportunity for units to try out narrowboating. Leaders pay just £5 per night.
Brownies, Guides and Senior Section are all invited to take part; there will be some two-hour sections for Rainbows as well (between Bradford-on-Avon and Bath) which will be advertised nearer the time.
